player highlight: Anthony Mason
Anthony Mason was a journeyman power forward who played 13 years in the NBA with the New Jersey Nets, Denver Nuggets, Charlotte Hornets, Milwaukee Bucks, Miami Heat, and New York Knicks.
Mason signed with the Knicks in 1991, where he flourished under HOF coach Pat Riley. Making it to the 1994 NBA Finals, although losing to Hakeem Olajuwon, led Houston Rockets. In 1995 he won NBA SMOTY and set a Knicks record for minutes played in a season.
From 1996-2001 Mase had stints with the Charlotte Hornets, where he made All-NBA Third Team and NBA All-Defensive Second Team, and later with the Miami Heat, where he was a 2001 NBA All-star.
Finishing his last years with the Bucks, Mason finally retired in 2003.
Anthony Mason died on February 28th, 2015, from congestive heart failure in New York City. He was 48 years old.
